Hello all

Hi, and yes, I'm new. I read all the time, and am always looking for a book discussion. I just started Wally Lamb's newest, The Hour I First Believed. Too soon for a review.

Recently read:

Several P.D. James, getting caught up on the ones missed.
Leonard Chang's 3 Allen Choice mysteries (with liberal doses of philosophy)
You or Someone Like You, by Chandler Burr

Waiting on the bedside table: a couple Nameless Detective bboks by Bill Pronzini

Still waiting for a discussion (and trying to recover from):
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski
Iodine by Haven Kimmel

This looks like a good place.

Welcome Anniedog,
It is a good place, and I look forward to your reaction to The Hour I First Believed, or any other of Wally Lamb's books.

Thank you Peder. This is my first of Lamb's books, though I've had him on my list to read for a while. I'm about halfway through this one, and hit a wall with it last night (figuratively), nearly throwing it aside. I like his writing, though he has a way of dropping bombshells, then moving quickly away before coming back to the aftermath. He can be hilarious, but this one is packed full of misery, and there are times I can take only so much misery.

Well Annie, I know what you mean about misery in books, and being able to stand only so much of it. I have put books aside or not even started them because the topics repelled me. So I'm sorry to hear that about this book. Glad you are here; all opinions count, I like to think.
