Hello - another new person!

Hi - thought I ought to get round to introducing myself. I joined last week and this seems a great forum full of great people - even if some are slightly off centre (brilliant!) Reading some of the threads has been quite funny and has certainly lightened up lunch breaks at work ...
Anyway - hope you are all well and having a good week ... speak soon! ;)

Hi Martin - (glad you didn't leave by the way) ... I am reading Gateway by Frederik Pohl ..not a bad sci-fi easy read, then after several recommendations - Blindness by an author called Can't Remember His Name - something like Jose Sacramago ...?! It is due from Amazon any day now ...
What about you?

You will immensely enjoy Blindness by Jose Saramago (close enough) - I read it last year, and it was one of my favourite books of the entire year.

I've been reading Neil Gaiman's American Gods for about a month now. It's not that I don't like it, heck, I love it, but I just can't seem to find the time to finish it.

Good read, though.

Cheers

I've read Neverwhere by Gaiman - not a bad book ... will try to pick up American Gods at some point if you recommend it ..
Cheers

Yeah, American Gods is a good book. Recommended :)

It's feel kinda reminds me of Twin Peaks. It has that dark and surreal feel to it.

Hi Wabbit - thanks for the recomendation as well - wasn't neverwhere a TV series years ago? - or am I having another flashback

Yeah, it was a T.V series first :) As the show was a hit, they turned the series into a book.

Another book by him that I really liked, more than neverwhere and maybe more than American gods ( not sure though :D ) is Stardust. Which was a comic first and then a novel :)

Stardust is a fairy tale. It has magic, elfs, giants, witches, goblins and all kinds of wonderful stuff in it's pages :) So, if you are into fantasy and like his style of writing then you might try that. Also, it's a lot less dark than American Gods.

PS: Like your avatar! It always makes me laugh when I see it lol :)

Great - thanks for that Wabbit ... will give it a go!

Choosing avatars is a tough business - picked a frog as my nickname is Froggy and no - I haven't got webbed feet - I am from Southampton, not the Isle of Wight which any people from IOW, you know what I am talking about so no apologies here !! :p

Yours is great though - mine was animated but on transferring it to the site lil' froggy stopped dancing! :(

Howdy! I love, love, love American Gods. Will recommend it to anyone. Unfortunately, am not loving the Neverwhere TV series, despite loving the book. May send it back unfinished. :(

yeah, if my memory serves me correctly it was pretty dire - under funded, poorly acted and lacking any ooomph!
