On Military Genres
Just finished reading a history of Sir Tom Cochrane ("Cochrane - The Real Master and Commander" by David Cordingly). All in all, a beautifully-written book on Cochrane's exploits with the Royal Navy in the Med, off Chile and in Brazilian service.
This was in an era where the only "antibiotics" were gun-powder and fresh lime juice...whew!
