Hello all, I've just joined and can already tell that I will be very happy here. Can't wait to throw myself into the discussion.

cheers,

Hi Pigeon!

I've been wanting to get my mitts on Jonathan Strange for the LONGEST time but my library is constantly out of their copies. How is it? What do you like/dislike about it so far?

Hi Pigeon. Welcome to the forum! Maybe you can answer the riddle of why we never see any baby pigeons!

Thanks for the welcome folks! I appreciate it.

Kristo: JS&MN is pretty fantastic, though looooong. I think I’ve been reading it for four months now (just at bedtime, which makes it go slower), but I am enjoying it. There is just so much depth to it. Fun times.

Kooka: Thanks! Not a pigeon, exactly – but I dig the wheels! ;)

oh yes!

Oh, and Wabbit, you didn’t know that pigeons have feathers that function much like an ‘invisibility cloak’? Only until they can fly themselves, of course. ;)

I think I already said hello on another thread... Oh well - Welcome to the forum, Pigeon! :)

Welcome, Pigeon.

What part of Toronto do you live in? Lived there for about five years, but couldn't stand the heat and humidity in the summer and the brutal winters (soft left coaster that I am).

How's the weather? Hot and muggy yet? Sons are heading out that way next week for the Oasis concert at Molson Amphitheatre and trying to figure out what to pack.

Hey Ell! I'm in the 'Riverdale' neighbourhood of Toronto, just south of the Danforth. Its a great place, in my books. Where in the city did you live?

The weather has been super hot and humid for about a week now, and they've been calling for rain for about the same amount of time. Hasn't materialized yet, though.

Hi Pigeon and welcome

Johnathan Strange on my TBR list

Just for info I think a baby Pigeon is called a Squab

Cabrasopa

We lived in Thornecliffe Park, ovelooking the Don Valley, in one of those 40-story twin towers. My job took me all over metropolitan TO, so I got familiar with all the different parts of Toronto. Riverdale is a nice little area. I rather miss the different little neighbourhoods of TO. :(

cabra & Ell

Cabra- JS&MN is definitely worth a look, though be prepared for a major time investment. This thing is huge (both in sheer size and in depth). But I am certainly enjoying it.

Squabs! of course! Maybe thats why you never see baby pigeons? They're not pigeons, they're squabs?

Ell - I love the Don Valley. I'm really close to it and its a great place to go strolling. I'm really enjoying living here (this is my fourth year) - though I hated it when I first got here!
