Came upon this forum, and thought I'd join. :) I'm 19, from Colorado, and currently attending college. I love reading, it's one of my favorite things to do. I love writing both songs and poems, playing my guitar, cooking, photography, etc.

I hope to make myself at home here. :)

Thanks for the welcome. :)

I read pretty much anything except horror or romance. I'm really into sci-fi, mystery/thriller and general fiction at the moment, though.

Welcome to the forum of concrete.

Do you like the grandfather of science fiction, Robert A. Heinlein?

Have any photography to show us?

Thanks for the welcome Ice and Wolhay. :)

And I've never read any of Heinlein's work. I'll have to check some out the next time I go to the library. Have a recommendation of which book(s)?

I do have a few pictures, but I don't think they're all that great. I just got into photography as an actual hobbie back in May due to a friend's suggestion.

Hope that works...

Your nic made me think of this old song:

A bold hippopotamous was standing one day
On the banks of the cool shalimar
He gazed at the bottom as it peacefully lay
by the light of the evening star.

Away on a hilltop sat combing her hair
His fair hippopotami maid
His inamorata
Adjusted her garter
And sang him this sweet serenade . . . .

oh, just be careful with wabbit, he always throws fruits... :D

I've never heard that song before, novella. And my username came from a Pat Benatar song, heh.

Thanks for the welcome Wabbit. I love my avatar too. :p And yes, a mango will do, lol.

If I can get up the courage to post a song, I'll do so. Thanks for the welcome, honeydevil. :) And I'll be sure to duck if I see a fruit coming my way. ;)

It's by two English guys named Flanders and Swann. They also have a good song about a gnu.

I recommend beginning with 'Tunnel in the Sky' which is one of Heinlein's books for youths. It doesn't mean a whole lot however, he also wrote 'Starship Troopers' as a book for youths.

After 'Tunnel in the Sky' you could try some of the more controversial books that depends more on personal taste. For example 'Stranger in a Strange Land' or 'Starship Troopers' (has not got much to do with the movie with the same name).
