Help a newbie pic his next book

Hello all

i have been looking through this forum and it looks great and i look forward to chatting.

My problem is i have basically only started enjoying reading over the last couple of years and don't know what to read next.

I have read everything by Matthew reilly, The tomorrow series by John Marsden,every thing by Desmond Bagley aswell as a couple of Michael Crighten and Jeffery Archer books but i couldn't get into them.

I have just finished Sacred Stone by Clive Cussler which was ok but a bit of an anti climax.

I started reading the mission song by John Le carre last night but after about 20 pages i lost interest.

I need something that is easy to read and keeps you turning the pages. (i also dislike fantasy novels).

So help me out everybody Please.

Don't know if you have tried any historical novels? suggestions here

Birdsong by Sebastian Faulk ....kept me turning the pages!

The Emperor Series by Conn Iggulden I loved these books!

You might like High Road to China by Jon Cleary or Ireland:A Novel by Frank Delaney. For a good laugh, you might try The Berrytown Trilogy by Roddy Doyle; The Van and The Snapper are my favorites.
