Lucky me, my bank's rewards program paid off in an Amazon.com $100 gift certificate. I've racked up a few books after quite a bit of time browsing, but I would be interested in other people's insights and suggestions before moving on to the final purchase. I haven't read many novels lately, and would rather enjoy going through one. My favorite authors include Lovecraft and Castaneda, and I'm not sure how to pursue other authors in their respective genres. I would like to read more in the "gothic horror" area, if that is the name. I'm more interested in the fantasy/sci-fi horror similar to lovecraft rather than gore/killings/hauntings/etc. but I'm always trying to stay open for suggestions. Also, the last book I read was Watership Down by Richard Adams and rather enjoyed it.

I have a list of books setup that I've spent some time looking into, and would appreciate other suggestions.

o Counterfeit Unrealities - Collection 4 of Philip K. Dick novels including Ubik, A Scanner Darkly, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, and The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch. I have never read Philip K. Dick before.

o I Am Legend - Richard Matheson, the book includes several other stories by him. I have never read Matheson before either.

o Nightmare of Ecstasy - The Life and Art of Edward D. Wood Jr. I have heard this is a great oral biography on the claimed "worst director". I am interested in this mainly as the man fervently refused to stop pursuing his dreams, even though he lacked talent. Plus he was a transvestite. I'm pretty much set on getting this one.

o A Liar's Autobiography Volume VI - Graham Chapman, I've heard great things about this book, and I am a huge fan of Monty Python. I've heard he was the most "eccentric". I'm pretty set on getting this one too.

o Plants of the Gods: Their Sacred, Healing, and Hallucinogenic Powers - Richard Shultes, I've heard this is an excellent book on entheogens.

Thank you for any insights.
