help with novel research

I'm currently in the middle of writing a novel. It's based around someone who's been born into something that they don't want to do anymore. In this novel's case it's about someone who starred in a film when he was young but has changed his mind about furthering his acting career for one reason or another. Has anyone read or seen a film which resembles or even loosely resembles it? Or even if you yourself can draw from personal experience of such events that would be greatly appreciated.

I need some ideas!!!

Perhaps you should read a biography of a royal? Wasn't there a royal heir somewhere on the continent who recently renounced his right to the throne in order to be able to marry the woman he loves - you could check that via the BBC news site.
