hi, i just have one question. been waiting to publish a book.

Can you be sued if you just rewrite paragraphs and sentences that sound similar to a self-development self-help articles from a book

if they were the first one to write about it?

Yes. It's happened. If it can be shown that there's a pattern of "re-writing" in your book, a jury will convict on charges of plagiarism.

Maybe you can use other people's materials but only when you credit them for their work in a footnote or something, I dunno.

Just re-writing paragraphs without any sort of acknowledgements is plagiarism I think.
