Hi there

Hello to you all, just sort of stumbled across this site a couple of days ago and though I've not had time to go through it all by a long shot, there certainly is lots of good stuff on here.

My personal reading preferences are Cornwell's Sharpe etc, O'Brians' Aubrey & Maturin - just finished his Desolation Island. Clive Cussler is another favourite, plus the odd Tom Clancy & Patrick Robinson book .... and of course, I'm always open to suggestions

Ok enough said for now, off for another look about.

Welcome to the boards, Jonno. You'll find us a friendly bunch of booklovers!

Cheers, Martin :D

Welcome Jonno!! Hope you enjoy the Forums :)

So its safe to categorise you as an Adventure book reader then :D Personally i love the Sharpe series, and have read books by most of the authors you have mentioned, especially Cussler & Clancy (i gave Patrick Robinson a go but i could never really get into his writings).

I havnt tried O'Brien, simply because the series seemed so similar to a Sharpe/Hornblower kind of thing, and i couldnt be bothered to have to read another 10+ book series to catch up on the characters!

:lol at Phil! Thanks. Got fed up with bear so I thought why not to change the avatar. I chose the smiley face go round!!
Like your Garfield. I was young, I was fan of Garfield!!

Hi again, thanks. - Yes phil i guess Adventure would describe it fairly well, but I think you'd find O'Brian quite different to the Hornblower & Sharpe, they are much more a serious and thorough portrayal of life in the early 19th C Royal Navy rather than an adventure story.

But as I've a bit of a fascination with history and warfare anything like that works for me.
