Holes Question...Please Help!!

I watched the movie "Holes" by Louis Sachar. In it there is a boy named Stanley. In it Stanley (the fourth) makes a friend with Zero. Stanley and Zero find a chest......with Stanley's name on it. I just don't get why Stanley's name would be on it. I know that a women hid the chest.....but how did his name get on it? Can someone PLEASE help me. Thank you.
