Hopping Across for a Quick Whatsit

novella

I'll be off to sunny England Friday for 10 days or so. Guaranteed to spend 12 hours a day trodging across the gray fens of the East Midlands in search of scenic drains, and the other 12 sitting in front of two cozy bars of a gas fire, eating wholemeal biscuits and arguing about which pub could possibly be open.

Any advice welcome. We will not be near anything cosmopolitan, so don't tease. 'Sides, I like a good trodge amongst the cauliflower lorries, a couple of caustic Indian meals, and 9-zillion-calorie beers. Sleep like a horse after that.

Well, have fun and be safe and remember that I am extremely jealous of your little jaunt! Have a zillion calorie beer and remember us poor souls that only have weak American beer to drink! *sigh*

*waving* :D Bon Voyage!

Any advice welcome.

Erase the word sunny from your vocab. Tis very bleak at the moment. My advice is bring a good umbrella. And a warm jacket. And a scarf. Oooh and birthday present for me.

My chum in Nottingham reports it's quite cold ("bloody freezing!") and even Mr. O. way down in London says its getting to be long underwear season, so bundle up.

And like, cajunmama, I, too, am so jealous I could tear my hair out. Even soggy and dark by 4 p.m., for a chance to see friends and breathe some sane air, it would be worth it.

Have a wonderful trip.
