How to grow the forum V 2.0

I really feel the forum can do with fresh blood right now. Old boy's thread got me thinking of how to grow the forum - thanks oldboy! :)

Here's my humble suggestion :)

If you post to any other forums apart from this one then it might help to advertise the forum by putting it as your sig and linking to it. I go to one other forum and have already done this. Maybe it won't get any new members here but it just might... and we have nothing to lose by doing so :)

So this is my "put the book forum in your sig" drive! :D Let's spread the good word about the place of words and worlds of books :)

Have you seen the amount of people who post written material on sites like the BBC's get writing site? They're desperate for some feedback and guidance on their work. I know this is a book forum, but maybe a more active stance on the feedback for writers thing would attract interest.

Then again maybe not, it is pretty static in that part of the forum.

I personally don't give feedback on the writers section, but I do love to read the work there. It's not that I don't like most of the things that I read, I just have my reasons for not doing so :)

You find it hard to be harsh to people when giving constructive criticism? Do you worry about not being liked if you tell someone their stuff is crap and give an honest reason as to why?

Ok, what I mean is that I don't give opinions now I did for a little while when I first joined the forum but it was only for awhile and I have not done so in a long time :)

No to all of those reasons :)

I have my reasons but I don't feel inclined to share them. As I said, I have my reasons. If i had wanted to share them I would have stated them. For the record, the reasons you stated are not the ones that stop me from giving criticism :)

Most of the writers here are very talented. There are others who, err... could take some lessons. Of course they'll improve with practice and constructive criticism. The most important thing right now is that they're interested in writing.

You joined in February 2004. That feedback was in September. ;)

No to all of those reasons :)
