I was just given a beautiful new book with gold edging but the pages are stuck together because of the decorative edging (and because it is fresh off the binder). Is there a faster way to separate the pages instead of separating each set of pages one-by-one?

To solve the issue I did a Web search and found that it is recommended to hold the book over steam. But my book has gold edging that can be (I think) damaged if done this way.

Can you help me?

If you want to be sure not to damage the book's golden lining I think the only way to do it is by hand, one at the time.

What's so arduous about separating the pages individually as you read/write in the book?

AQB, maybe keep this one unread, and find a nice paperback that you can bang around with.
I wouldn't hold the book over steam at all, and even using an extremely sharp knife, you're liable to accidentally tear or damage a page.

I would love a 4k choose your own adventure book! Can you imagine all the possibilities?

You know it did not (at all) take as much time as you might think. I did it rather fast actually. It was no big deal really.

Why do you need the pages separated if you're not reading it? Is it so you can pretend to have read it or were you looking for dirty pictures?

Because it is the type of publication in which the reader flips through pages- from x page to y page (without missing a beat) etc. Hence, the pages needed to be separated prior to my reading the book. It is a book on philosophical subjects.
