I read novels on my PDA

I actually do most of my reading on my Pocket PC with Microsoft Reader eBooks. Palm Pilots can use Palm Reader to read eBooks for their device. Does anyone else use their PDA for eBooks?

I've been trying to get into reading books on my laptop, but I just can't get past staring at the screen for so long. It has some really uncomfortable effect on the eyes. I really would like to be able to read books electronically, it sure would save some space and help out the environment a little too....though I do suppose old fashioned books ARE biodegradable.

I have a number of books available as e-books. I have noticed a big increase in sales the past year as people become aware of the advantages, not the least of which is that you can literally carrya library around with you. Reading from a comp screen allows you to set the brightness and contrast to where it doesn't bother the eyes, as even changing the print/background colors will do. You can also magnify the text to an easily readable size.

I invert the colors (black background and white text) to make reading easier in the dark.

Technology will NEVER replace good old-fashioned paperbacks and hardcovers. Never. That is the one thing which technology cannot conquer.

How about when they will be able to download info straight into your brain - no eye-strain then, and you can access it anywhere at your leisure!! (And no, its not all that far off i wouldnt imagine, kind of a Johnny Mmemonic thing without the terrible movie being attached )

Seriously, though. What do you miss about physical books?

An old book has a certain feel. If you have read it and reread it a few times, it becomes somewhat personalized. No matter what you say, books are more eye friendly. All in all, books are better!

I read eBooks mainly because I can take instant delivery of books, I can instantly look up a word by tapping on it, and I can carry my entire digital library on a CF card the size of a matchbook.
