I am a librarian attempting to help a patron find a story he remembers. He believes it was by Hemingway, but I'm not convinced it is. He says it is about a bird, possibly a duck or a chicken, and it strutted about, fluffing her feathers, etc. in order to attract the attention of a certain male of the same species.
Does this ring any bells at all, even with slightly different specifics?
Thanks in advance for any help.
