Igby Goes Down

Just saw this last night and I think it's one of the best-written screenplays I've seen in a long time. The dialogue is great--funny, black humor, and full of pathos. Plus, I'm a Jeff Goldblum fan and he's got a rare rich-callous-and-cruel role.

Ah!, I made a thread on this film recently. I saw it once, though the quality of the DVD was horrible. Rented it again and I'm going to sit down and watch it again this weekend. The humor is truly something else to behold. It's "smart funny" and a lot of members of this board would like it IMHO. Yes, pathological humor is...well....humorous. Such a messed up kid with an interesting view of the world and who drives those around him nuts. We have a kid like that in school currently. It's amazing really.

Igby is a great movie with some pitch-perfect performances and delightful dialogue.

- "You're funny"
- "Then why don't you laugh?"

I love the part where a fellow student anounces he will study economics. Igby corrects him and restates it as neofascism. :D I can't get enough of that particular scene.
