i was wondering what sort of comps and net connections you all have
what is ur OS , connection ,bandwidth and the maximum download speed you get?

OS: Windows XP.
Connection: DSL.
Bandwith: Haven't a clue.
Maximum Download Speed: Little over 100Kb/s.

Cheers, Martin :D

Windows 98
ADSL, going through a 4 hub router as we have a Windows ME machine and a laptop with XP on it too.
512kbps

Top download speed is about 200 kbps depending on the source

OS: Windows XP
Connection: Cable Broadband
Bandwidth: 100k
Maximum Download Speed: Not all that great, manages about 20k a second if its in a good mood, generally between 10-15 though

Cable modem doohicky. Goes as fast as whatever they do go at. I imagine. I'm not very technical. I'm only a girl.

oh! i forgot i had a comp as well ;)

OS- Win 98
Connection- cable broadband
bandwidth- 48k
Download speed- slow-3 to 8 k (though last month our connection guy felt a little generous and gave me speeds of 100+ on the above bandwidth!!!)

OS Windows 2000
Connection Cable Broadband
Bandwidth Not a clue
Maximum download speed 10,0 Mbps (much quicker now that I have cleared the system for a lot of spyware).

10 Megabytes per second?! What?!

And by the way, spyware doesn't affect you downloading speed, does it?

Cheers, Martin :D

Yup, that's what it says on the thingy. It's hooked up with the cable tv - kinda thing. "the fastest internet in town", that's what they. And it is fast! Fixed price pr. month, regardless of how much you use it.

Don't know about the spyware, except when I cleared my 'puter of 189 "objects", it got decidedly faster.... Now I clear it once a week. :)

I paid an initial £50 for the connection and lease of modem, an then I pay equivalent to £17-18 a month for the use. No limit on how much I use it.

It's ok. :D

(I had no idea it was such a big thing! But, then again: What do I know?)

(prices are roughly estimated - exchange rates and all that.)

10 MB/s is massive! Seriously. Isn't it 10 KB/s?

Cheers, Martin :D

Look, I have tripple checked.

It says 10,0 Mbps.

I don't know the first thing about it, but that's what it says on the pop-up screen, when I "click" on the two monitors. Okay?

Hobitten

10Mbs is your local network connection speed (ie the speed your pc connects to your modem), not the speed your modem connects to the net.
