Hello,
I joined the group yesterday and am happy to have found this forum. I live in Maine, way up in the northeast corner of the US, where I am a recovering lawyer, mostly retired but also a part-time consultant.
When I'm not shoveling snow or mowing the lawn, I finally have plenty of time to read. I read a lot of crime and espionage fiction, generally British and European. Favorite authors: Dorothy L. Sayers, P.D. James, John Lawton, Reginald Hill, Ian Rankin, Peter Robinson, Christopher Brookmyre, Fred Vargas, Jo Nesbo and Henning Mankell. I also like some of the American writers who set their stories in the UK or Europe, like Philip Kerr, Deborah Crombie, Elizabeth George and Olen Steinhauer.
I also read a lot of WW2 history. Most recently, I read William Hitchcock's THE BITTER ROAD TO FREEDOM.
Finally, I like humorous fiction, like PG Wodehouse, Nancy Mitford, Brookmyre, Stephen Fry and Matt Beaumont.
Thanks for providing this forum.
