Irish Litterature?

I'm attending a student trip to Ireland soon, and i will have to introduce my classmates to essential irish litterature and how it has affected the irish national identity. So i was wondering if anyone could namedrop just a few very important/interresting Irish writers? I know that James Joyce is one, but other than that..no.
