Is .xxx a good thing or not?

Dandy, as long as big brother keeps his shoe-horn away.

There's a lot of pornographic websites on the Internet so it's not strange that they are "prioritized" rather than "socially constructive" groups.

so some people are worried that giving porn sites their own domain location will somehow "legitimize" their existance??????

Um...excuse me....they are legitimate aren't they? They are a real business that pays taxes and earn some pretty high profits from what I've read. Considering the sheer numbers of them I have to assume they are quite popular.

I guess the "if we ignore it we don't have to accept that it exists" philosophy is the best practice here huh?

AS a parent i agree totally, there is a lot of things in the world that kids need us as parents to protect them from!

My idea would be to split the Internet industry in two: porn (subscribers only) and non-porn (regular Internet users). Make it so porn is harder (no pun intended... okay, it was) to access.

I don't think it's necessary to go that far. It will be nice if all porn sites go to .xxx urls to make it easier for parents to protect their children. I'm all for that.

did you know that only 300 million websites out of the whole internet are not porn?

what an awesome statistic.

That makes me sad...Think of all the ethereal space being wasted on non-pornographic subjects and photos...Sad...Really sad...

At least with the .xxx address you'd know you were getting real smut instead of wasting your time loading a site for sick cats, when you really wanted, oh nevermind

Well if you do a search for "hot puss" there is a slight chance you could come up with a vet site, slim but there's got to be a few.

That would mean that I would have to start paying for my porn, and explain it to my wife. Right now she just thinks I am an advocate for the rights of little people and Carribou. :D

the .xxx thing would be cool. Having a young-un in the house, it would be nice to be able to restrict those sites. Current filters aren't very effective.

Isnt this just offered as a option for those that would like to move? So your filters would not be any more effective than they have been.
