The moderation team has discussed the issue to some length. We received quite a few PMs from members with varying suggestions and helpful comments. In the end we decided that there would be two books for January. We felt it was the most fair decision considering the feedback we had received. Both books will receive sticky threads in the BOTM section for January. Members can choose to discuss both books, or they can choose to discuss only the book they prefer.
In the future there will be a set method for ending ties. It will be:
1) First book nominated will be the winner.
2) In the case that both books were nominated by the same user, in the same post that we will go with the book that has the most seconds.
3) If the tied books have the same number of seconds, we'll go with the first one listed by the user in the nomination post.
Also, for more than ten nominations in a month, each user will only be allowed one nomination. A slightly altered method will be used to chose which book from the user will be nominated.
