Jimmy Martin was a factory worker from Hancock County, Tennessee, that went to play with Bill Monroe (considered by many to be the father of bluegrass music) after being fired for singing too much on the job. He went on to play with almost everybody who was anybody in bluegrass, and he's best known for developing the "high and lonesome" sound now attributed to bluegrass. He died May 14th at the age of 77.
