So... I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan. My all time favourite movie is Chasing Amy. Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back wasn't the best in my opinion and it seemed to be exactly like the comic book Chasing Dogma. I haven't watched Jersey Girl... I was actually excited about it coming out a long time ago when Joey Lauren Adams was supposed to play a main character. Then there was so much fuss, didn't end up watching it. I will someday I suppose.

Well, anyway... there you go.
He has a book out now: Silent Bob Speaks : The Collected Writings of Kevin Smith
Just thought you should know. ;)

I have Jay and Silent Bob right in front of me now. Dunno when I'm gonna watch it, though. :)

I enjoyed Dogma - it was very funny.

I've seen Dogma and Chasing Amy. Both were decent movies, but they both lacked that little something that would've made them personal favourites, you know?

libra i think you know my feelings about chasing amy ( see fav movie scenes). i think you would enjoy jersey girl. it's a bit hollywood. but liv tyler is great and while i am not a ben fan, this is the type of movie that he is best in. where he is playing himself. there are some really good scences between him and the girl who plays his daughter.

"Clerks", "Mallrats" and "Chasing Amy" are entertaining to me but I'm not very fond of "Dogma" or "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back", they're not very similar to the earlier movies.

Dogma is definitely up there in my top 10.

And yeah, I know I can't completely personally relate to Chasing Amy, it has beautiful moments and wonderful dialogue (refer to Jenngorham's post in the movie scenes thread).

I really do want to see Jersey Girl, I think I'll move it up on my to-watch list. ;) I enjoy movies with sweet family moments. They make me all teary-eyed. :p

The wonderful dialogue also includes the bad ass vulgar dialogue. Who doesn't quote from a Kevin Smith movie? :D

Clerks was good but a bit rough around the edges (I didnt stop laughing after the ending for a good half hour though). I really liked Mallrats and Chasing Amy, and Dogma was okay but nothing special. I havnt seen any of his newer stuff yet.

I agree with Wolhay. I don't purchase dvds often, but "Clerks", by far and away is a film I have to have in my collection. I force all of my friends to watch it. It is one of my all time favorites.

I was never fond of "Dogma".

My fave Kevin Smith movies in order:
1. Chasing Amy
2. Dogma
3. Clerks
4. Mallrats

I don't really know how I feel about the rest... they're okay, but I still haven't seen Jersey Girl.

Has anyone seen Drawing Flies? or Vulgar?

I enjoyed Clerks and Chasing Amy. Dogma was alright. The rest of them, I just couldn't dig. I don't know, could be I just outgrew them. Could be that it all went downhill after Clerks, which I maintain was the best of them all.

My faves by him are Chasing Amy, Dogma, and Clerks. His next film is a direct sequel to Clerks, which picks up 10 years later in the 2 main characters lives. It's supposedly named The Passion of the Clerks.
