It would seem that quite a few groups with "interest" in the assisted suicide issue have decided to toe up to the battle line in honor of his release. Religious groups are calling him a murderer, while some groups in favor of AS are calling him a hero and a martyr and hoping that his release with drum interest in AS legislation back up. Working in health care, I see unnecessary suffering on a regular basis. I'm completely in favor of assisted suicide for patients with a chronic or terminal illness who are unable to live comfortably. I'm hopeful that his release may stir up interest in AS, but I don't know that it will ever become a reality in most places. I know that if I'm ever diagnosed with a terminal illness, I'll be saving the percs from the get go.
