King Kong

Rented this one and it was just awful.:( I would blame it on the Jack Black effect as everything he touches, turns to....well....yeah. Anyone else suffer through this one? I just know that it will be lining up the "used" DVD aisles everywhere in due time.

I may love the original too much to give any of the remakes a fair assessment... no, wait, the 1970s version REALLY REALLY sucks. (King Kong trying to undress Jessica Lange... come on.) The new version had great special effects and... well, that's about it. The ending is completely ruined and all the set-up never really pays off. It's a pity, I used to love Peter Jackson's films, but ever since he got a budget he seems to have lost track...

1933: 5/5
1976: 1/5
2005: 2/5

I actually liked the new version quite a lot, but I won't be offended if you call me biased because it's true
The special effects were good and I thought the movie was pretty good all around.

I liked the fight between Kong and the dinosaurs. Yeah, I liked that part.

Yeah, that wasn't so bad. But was it me, or did it take forever for the adventure to start? To get from the actress on the down and outs to Africa seemed to take like forever. Some films make the film all action and little acting. This one featured a drawn out phase of bad acting, coupled with minimal action.

I thought it wasn't too bad. I think that there was more development of an emotional bond between the actress and Kong, enough so that I cried at the end. So I'm a softy... I absolutely HATED the T-rex scenes. After seeing Jurassic Park, I just cringe whenever one of those d#$n things are on screen.

Hmmmm...it did seem to take forever for the story to really get going...
