kraftwerk -- computer world

Without the influence of Kraftwerk we might not have such groups as Tangerine Dream and perhaps, dare I say it, Jean Michel Jarre. But whether this is a good thing or a bad thing I will let you decide.

there's something about oldschool electronic music that strikes my fancy. in a way, it's kind of scary ... it reminds me of something tyrone slothrop said in gravity's rainbow.

"what do you think every electrofreak dreams about? ... maybe there is a Machine to take us away, take us completely, suck us out through the electrodes out of the skull 'n' into the Machine and live there forever with all the other souls it's got stored there ... dope never gave you immortality. you hadda come back, every time, into a dying hunk of smelly meat! but we can live forever, in a clean, honest, purified Electroworld."

This elecrtoworld leaves the image that everything in it is shining like stainless steel.
But, umm, are there anyflowers?

PS: did not read that book. Just came up with the image after reading those lines.

I don't know. flowers or none, it wouldn't very be pleasant. in the book, which is set during world war II, people either go to happyville (electroworld) or get shipped on a train to pain city (auschwitz). both seem like a horrifying dream.

had thought it could be the sciencefiction world. Sorry for misunderstanding.

wait. sounds familar. ever mentioned this in other posts?

I just checked the copyright date on my vinyl version of "Autobahn" -- 1974!
Mr. Burns, you never fail to surprise me. I'll have you listening to "Brain Capers" yet! :)
