Can anyone recommend some good, Laugh Out Loud Audio Books that couples would enjoy listening to on a road-trip? Ideally something that is not just hilarious, but maybe has a bit provocative/racey, and a bonus is if it hand some good "what's important in life" threads running through the plot, aka uplifting. One of us is kind of bummed out. Interests for one includes mostly fiction, really into the Vampire stuff (you can guess it is the wife of course), the husband is more into witty, life lesson type of stuff, like travel writing but wouldn't mind a good dose of fiction. Searched around last night and came up with these. Any feedback or other suggestions is greatly appreciated:
Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story by Christopher Moore
This sounds almost perfect, but husband might find it a bit cheesy? But maybe that is what is needed, something light hearted with an intriguing plot.
Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella
This also sounds very good but maybe mostly appealing to female readers? Men may find it too contrived/unrealistic?
Population: 485 CD by Michael Perry (Author)
This sounds good and the wife would be into the EMT gory details but neither of us our specifically interested in "small town life" The reviews are uneven. Some say it is hilarious with some good life lessons thrown in, others seem to lean toward describing it as a good read for people interested in small town life.
Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore
Another Chris Moore (which we've never read). Not really into story of Jesus but it sounds hilarious.
Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy
Husband would love this but wife is not into sci-fi but maybe still a winner?
Any comments on the above or other suggestions is greatly appreciated.
