I was interested by the references to Dr Doolittle; Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has been "edited" for the same reason. In the original book the oompa Loompas were a tribe of black midgets who were stolen from their homeland by Willy Wonka so that they could work in his factory (which was too small for regular people). As anyone who has seen the film knows they were transformed into blue midgets (who volunteered to work in the factory).
