Looking for a book

Hi, I am looking for a book I read as a kid. About 1974. It was about 2 teens that went hunting or camping in northern Canada. One of them was native American. One of then\m was injured and they had to survive the winter on their own. The book went into great detail of how they survived by hunting and building their shelter and such.
I don't have any idea of the author or title. I think my kids would like it though. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

Gary Paulsen has written many books along that line, though the majority of the ones I read were in the nineties with my children. They're pretty good, even if they may be unrelated to the one to which you refer. Wikipedia article. He did have quite a few books from that period, but none that I have read. Good luck on your search.

Thanks. It looks like all Paulson's books are newer than the pne I'm looking for. But I will check them out.
