hi, im looking for a good retro sci-fi or mystery book
i am very keen on reading a book on this
i have read Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and i have to say it was an amazing book. im interested in reading more of this retro style of writing

You're after something reminiscent of the old pulps? (eg Indiana Jones, Sky Captain).

The actual genre was vast (and in a way many comics are still holding true to the pulp tradition), so I'll just post a few authors of the fantasy pulps (I can't remember the mystery/sf authors, but I'm sure it'll come back to me):

HP Lovecraft, Robert E Howard, Fritz Leiber, Morrcock, Clark Ashton Smith
