Looking for a book

Hi everyone.

I've been looking for a book that I read sometime inbetween 1998-2000 for a while now. Unfortunaly I don't know the author's name or the name of the book itself. I'll tell you what I do know:

It's a children's or teen book.

It's setting is a post apocolyptic world in which all the adults have been killed by some sort of virus or disease so all the children left have to fend for themselves.

I'm pretty sure the protaganist is a girl. This girl might have siblings.

In one part of the book she goes miles away from where she usually stays to this wharehouse, one of the only places that hasn't been raided by other kids.

Another part and main plotline is that she goes to an abandoned school and sets up a fortress of somesort that is also used as a semi hospital (?) A bunch of kids come together here and use it as a shelter.

Also, I beleive the books ends with the kids at the school getting ready for a big confrontation with another band of kids. I also remember reading that the author was getting ready to release a sequal.

Sorry if I wasn't specific enough, but if you don't know of the book I'm looking for could you possibly reccomendany books that are simaler to this, post apocolyptic with a kids themes or even just post apocolyptic since this interests me. Thanks a lot! ^__^

Hi Sukie,

Sorry, I can't name your book for you, but I read something once that was a bit similar. It was by Jean Ure, and I think it was called Plague. It was about a group of teens surviving after a virus had wiped out most of the UK population. I believe there was at least one sequel, too.

I would definitely recommend Exodus by Julie Bertagna. Set in the future when global warming has caused catastrophic worldwide flooding, a teenage girl attempts to lead her community to the safety of futuristic new cities which rise out of the water. Reaching one is bad enough, but then the problems really begin... An excellent, gripping young adult book. I believe that due to demand, the author is currently writing a sequel.
