1. the first one was a book i read when i was a kid in the 80's. i think i was about 8 or 9. it was a series of books about a family of creatures who lived in the forest or a meadow. they were friends with other creatures who didn't look like them. they kind of looked like hippos? there was one book where they had an outdoor feast and another where they went to the sea. unfortunately i don't remember anything about it except an illustarion of the father with a tophat on, and the caption said "father looking pensive".
2. a kids book i read in the early 80's, when i was 3 or 4. i think it was published in the 70's. it was about elephants who painted themselves different colors, some polka dotted, some striped, some zigzagged, etc. the picture on the front had elephants and kids eating popsicles. my mom and sister and i go crazy trying to remember the name of this book.
any help would be greatly appreciated, i'd really like to share them with my kids.
