This one came out last night on DVD and has been advertised for ages. Any-hoo, bought it and watched it last night with the kiddos-whata great film!, my 2 year old really loved the penguins, though I think they were rather subversive little creatures.:D Definitely a great family film.

I'm glad to hear Madagascar was a hit with your kids. We haven't seen it yet, but no doubt soon will. I thought it looked like a fun movie.

OK, it's a kids' film, but why are there penguins in Madagscar?

I'm sure there's a hysterical explanation.. maybe they're just lost;)

And it could be a nod to Swiss Family Robinson..as I remember, that book had some unlikely critters on this tropical island.

I believe that they are first seen in the Central Park Zoo, where the film begins, but then they are packed onto a ship with the rest of the animals that are to be released into the wild. Saying anything more would be telling ;)

They are being transported to another zoo, aren't they? I'm looking forward to watching this film too :).

While we're talking about penguins on film, what's the name of the recent movie that was a documentary about penguins?

While the penguins were indeed cute, the little kids we saw it with loved the lemurs the most. They did the lemur dance for weeks afterward.

Oh, the lemurs were my favourite. Ali G is hilarious :D

Ah.. I mean.. I went for the kids I was babysitting...not enjoyable at all... ;)

I wasn't a big fan of it the first couple of times the kids saw it, but it is growing on me. Personally, the voice of the giraffe should've been Woody Allen's. It's not neurotic enough IMHO.

The only reason I would want to watch it is for the penguins. ^_^

yeap, the pinguins are very funny... I managed to get a short film with the pinguins from Madagascar... it's like the short film of the Ice Age (included in the Ice Age special edition) with the squirrel! Funny! :D
Madagascar was great, I watched it and had a lot of fun... I recognized two film-alike scenes (the one from the "American beauty" when Alex is dreaming of falling meat from the sky and the one from the "Cast Away", when is talking with the ball! )!

We took our kids to the drive-inn in Kearney to see this movie and they really enjoyed it! They are asking for it for Christmas too :D
