Greetings,

Can any one of you learned folks recommend ONE book that will help me become a good writer--or at least improve my english/writing skills.

What I intend to do is to read one page per day and analyse/dissect them. What I'm most interested in is what makes 'good' grammer and structure. Use of vocabulary is a bonus.

I come from an arts background so visual descriptions are important to me.

At the moment I only have one book in mind--'The Great Gatsby' by fitzgerald. That was the last novel I read back in highschool. In fact I hate reading fiction(but like writing fiction--is that weird?). If you can recommend a book with low dialogue to narrative ratio that would be a bonus.

thanks!

Try The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells. As I remember, he used proper grammar and the story isn't too bad. It's not too long either so if you don't like reading fiction, you won't have to suffer very much.

Speaking of, I just obtained a copy of that book from my sister in law. I have yet to read it, but it looks like a good one. Will definitely post a review of it when I'm done in the future(hopefully nearer)
