Memory Lane

What did I think
Then?
What do I think
Now?
What do I thnk now
Of what I thought then?
And would what I think now
have made any difference
then?
Have I learned anything
or nothing?
A suitable topic for a memoir,
Life's Education.

Peder,
Do you have to play a balancing game with honesty because of the intended audience, or are you taking a freely revelatory approach?

Reminds me of Monty Python.

No, it is not intended to be an x-ray of everything I can think of about myself, and it will not be an exhaustive (and probably boring) historical biography. The writing might go on forever, otherwise. :)

My life has had some ups and downs, some pleasant parts and unpleasant parts. So the memoir is intended to be a restrospection on the major twists and turns of my life, why they occurred, and why my life has turned out as it has, viewed as honestly as I can from all points of view and without attempting to assign blame or fault. (I tend to think that all parties contribute to whatever unpleasantness occurs along the way.) The Introduction is rather long and wordy (and so far not well written) trying to explain this.

My children know me closely through the prism of their growing up years at home. They of course don't know much about my life before they were born, nor do they know much about my life after they have left home and spread to the four winds. The memoir is intended to round out what they know and how it came to be.
