you might have read his books. if you consider yourself a fan, check out this film, it's awesome. it was directed by martin scorcese's partner paul schrader in 1985. he wrote taxi driver and adapted the screenplays for raging bull and the last temptation of christ. if you're a fan of kill bill, you'll notice tarantino imitated some of the techniques used in this film. for instance, the scene in the bathroom stall with uma thurman: the wall suddenly becomes transparent when the lighting changes. that trick first appeared in mishima, in addition to a lot of other experiments.
the score by philip glass is one of the best I've ever heard. it's up there with the krono quartet's requiem for a dream, michael nyman's gattaca and wendy carlos' a clockwork orange. one warning: it's subtitled japanese, but the narration is in english.
