Motokid vacation

Sometime before the butt-crack of dawn this coming Saturday (August 20th) I'll be departing for a weeks vacation to this area of North Carolina:

I shall not be anywhere near a computer for at least a week, and probably not back to TBF shenanigan's until August 28th at the very earliest.
Wonder how many posts will show as un-read.....at least 1000 I'm guessin'

So I'd like to know who would be so kind as to take the shit stirrin' stick I carry with me? I'm leaning towards leckert, but he's been a bit absent lately.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Why don't you just give everyone a homework assignment?

hmmm...could be a good idea...but then again most people hate homework assignments...and a few hate students...

Well I hope you have a nice vacation and I'm sure someone will stir things a bit for you while you're gone :)

Didn't you just go on a vacation a month or 2 ago? Lucky devil! Have fun :)

only vacation I've taken in the last month or two was from posting on forums...this is the once a year, week long, sitting on the beach, pretending to be god, 500+ miles away from home type vacation.....

Ah, I see :)

If we don't see you back here after a month I'll assume you were successful and have been proclaimed the new messiah :D .

wow.

I don't know, Moto. I am humbled. (computer's been down for a couple of days.)

I could try to be Motoesque, but I would only manage a second rate imitation, to be sure.

I will post something in your honor while you are gone, though.

Thanks for thinking of me! And you will soon know what God must feel like when he's on vacation!

Drink a cold one (or six) for me!

Wow... east coast beaches are so much different than those on the west coast.

how so....don't let this picture fool you....beaches in the south are much prettier than beaches in the middle-atlantic area....

What I like about beaches on the east coast is that the water is so much warmer the the beaches on the west coast. I was shocked to find out just how cold the waters were off the coast of San Diego durning my first summer there. This was just a couple of miles north of the Mexican border no less. Give me east coast beaches anytime.

Maybe if I showed a picture of Rehoboth Beach during the summer it would look more familiar...the only problem is it would be hard to actually see the beach for all the idiot humans covering it up.....

The ocean water temperature where I'm going should be in the low 80's. We did experience a cold water up-welling one year when we were on the Outer Banks, and the temperature dipped into the upper 50's low 60's for about 2 days. But that's quite rare. Gotta hate that shrinkage factor......

leckert checks himself, and realizes with any more shrinkage he would be a woman!

When I was at Camp Pendleton (CA), we spent a lot of time at Del Mar. If that is typical of California beaches, I would sat the east coast beaches have more beach. The west coast seems to have a lot of rocks and crap along the shore, and a tiny sliver of sand on which to park my fat ass!

It was colder than I expected, too.

I like west coast beaches, they are fun for certain things like clamming, kite flying and tide pool watching, but not for anything that actually requires going into the water

I have returned from being over 540 miles south of my computer for the last week.

There are over 3600 "un-read" posts i have to sift through....holy moly.... :(

I see some things have changed since I left.... :(

I hope I can catch up on things in the next few days....I have lots to do here at home...grass cutting, and my kids start school tomorrow, and I have to return to work tomorrow....un-packing...general acclimation back into "real" life...

Please forgive me if I ask some questions (maybe stupid ones too) over the next few days that have already been asked...but I'm sure you'll understand why I may seek answers to what's happened
