Nation state simulation game

This is an interesting game whereby you set up your own nation.

Here's mine:

"All glory to the state"

Location: the South Pacific Regional Influence: Minnow

The Republic of SG is a tiny, safe nation, notable for its strong anti-business politics. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, with areas such as Law & Order and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 59%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Soda Sales.

Crime is totally unknown. SG's national animal is the yak, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the peoples dollar.

Cool site.

The Holy Empire of FreeDOHnia is a tiny, socially progressive nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The small government juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Social Welfare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 11%. A large private sector is led by the Basket Weaving industry, followed by Woodchip Exports and Pizza Delivery.

Crime is a problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. FreeDOHnia's national animal is the tree sloth and its currency is the dough.

Jeez, I never realised people were still playing this. I remember reading the book, Jennifer Government, when it came out in the summer of 2003. The game had been going for months prior to that, since it was a promotional tool for the book. If only Max Barry put more effort into his books than his online games.

Played it a few years ago. It's ok at the beginning, but then the scenarios start getting recycled and it all gets a bit dull.

I prefer Company personally. That one had me in stitches the entire time. Describing the neo-anarchic IT department that is outsourced, though not before they posting every private document the company has on the internet was a real hott. That refreshing wit and sarcasm are present in Jennifer Government, though a tadbit lacking in scope as it was in Company.

Beergood-I'll trade you a few yaks for pizza.:D

The Republic of Nightscape
"Ab antiquo a aeterno."
UN Category: Inoffensive Centrist Democracy

The Republic of Nightscape is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its burgeoning wyvern population. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The enormous government is mainly concerned with Religion & Spirituality, although Healthcare and Social Welfare are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 30%, but much higher for the wealthy. An almost nonexistent private sector is dominated by the Retail industry.

Crime is moderate, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Nightscape's national animal is the wyvern, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the dream.

Well, I was just messing around with it. I find it rather funny that I run a country containing frolicking wyverns when I've never seen one.
