I just published my first children's book (POD). Yes I self-published with an online publishing company. I would deeply appreciate any assistance and feedback as to how I can draw people to the site to want to purchase and read this book.
It's a delightful story and a great teaching tool to instill the morals in the areas of helping to develop a child’s character in their formative years. It's a must read book especially with parents who spend quality time reading with their younger children.
While self-publishing is a great start for the first time author, in most areas you are really on your own throughout the process. You really need a helping hand when you go that route and it can prove to be costly with the company and very little to no help. When you do a contract the way they explain you would think you get help in editing, proofreading, suggestions, brainstorming, setup of the book as well as promoting. However after you sign the contract you will find you truly self-publish and do every bit of the work yourself. At least that was my experience. Also they will charge an absorbent fee for promoting which is a fee separate from the initial fee. Again I thought promotion was a part of my package, a fee I am unwilling to pay because the services I received through my process was not what I expected so I would feel the promotion would be the same way with very little exposure and promoting without coming up with another aspect of promoting which would involve another fee.
So if there is a way I can direct the traffic to the site and gain results until I can afford to do more will be most appreciated. In a dogmatic financial world we do well as new comers to support one another in over endeavors as we do on these forums. The business world will eat you alive financially if you are inexperience and limited in what one can do to make progress. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
