Hey guys! I am excited to finally find a forum based on books like this!!

I am currently reading Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, and am a bit befuddled by its contents. Any help would be appreciated! I can't seem to make it past chapter one -- I would usually be halfway through a book in two days but this one's defenitly giving me a run for my money. I ADORED a Tale of Two Cities.

It's great to be here! Hope everyone's having a great day!

Welcome to the forum, flynlee :D

Sorry, I can't really help you here - I havn't been able to get more than half-way through /any/ Dickens

Hello flynnlee :)

I've read Great Expectations but may not be much help with explaining all of it I only liked parts. My favorite parts were with Mrs. Havisham and so I remember her parts of the story best.

Hi Flynnlee. I'm sorry you aren't enjoying Great Expectations. It's the one Dickens I really enjoyed.

Hi Flynnlee and welcome to the Forum! :)

I had similar problems getting into Great Expectations!! I had bought 2 Dickens books in the hope of reading some classic literature, and tried firstly to read Great Expectations if only for it's beautiful openning line. I had issues getting past the convict part as well... not sure why. I decided to pick up the other book, David Copperfield, and just adored it. I found the story started up a lot quicker and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. Perhaps if you try reading a different book of Dickens first you might find you grow accustomed to his style and can then read and enjoy Great Expectations.

Welcome!. Hope you like it here. Pull up a chair, post often, and enjoy the coffee.
