Now And For All

So, would the world be going to have the first black/green/yellow Pope??

ah.... wait, I didn't think I got your point? were black and white referring to the colors of human being or ....some clothes design?

Watercrystal - I've heard numerous people claim that black and white are not really colours. Doesn't matter if we're refering to clothes, people, cars, etc.

I think this is ludicrous - of course they are colours.

Cheers

Apparently they are not colours. There is some long scientific explanation for this, but I can't remember what it is as I don't like or understand physics. In my opinion, which is nothing to do with physics at all, black and white are definitely colours.

I think the (very short) scientific explanation is exactly the opposite of what you said, Moto - white is a combination of every colour (which can be refracted by a prism, or a raindrop, causing the entire spectrum to appear), and black is the complete absence of colour.

But I say, feck that, black and white are colours, dammit! But you knew that already.

Cheers

i think, and someone i' m sure will correct me, that they are not colours because they are not part of the spectrum, they are not present when light is refracted. all colours are made up of the 3 primary colours, red, yellow, blue. and black and white add shading and tone, but are not colours.

ok, maybe I'm taking this to literally, or artistically, but tell me how to make white please? What do you add to what to make white? Nothing.

I know that if I take every primary color and mix them together I get something much closer to black than any other color. The more colors you mix together the closer you get to black.

If you look at a color chart white is at one end and black at the other. Most of the colors, the darker ones especially, are closer to the black end of the spectrum. The lighter, fainter colors are closer to white.

To me this signifies as you add, and add, and add you get closer to black. As you take away, take away, take away you get closer to white.

Yes....no....?????

Black and white are not colours, they are shades. Black is the total absence of colour, where as white is a combination of all colours (when talking about lighting, not pigment).

Yeah, what I said refered to light. White light contains all colours, black light (if there even is such a thing) is the complete absence of colour. When dealing with the actual colours, like paint, what you said is true, Moto. (Ice, we posted simultaniously - and we said just about the same thing.)

Jenn - No, I am not. And your explanation sounds plausible, but I stand by my initial statement. Does a white car have no colour?

Cheers

That would be a Delorean(spelling?) wouldn't it?
What does timetraveling have to do with all this?

"If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits eighty-eight miles per hour... you're gonna see some serious shit."

Cheers

No, it doesn't have any colour - it has a white pigment, but no colour
Oh come on - like you'd say that to someone who asked what colour your new car is.

- "I bought a new car just recently."
- "Oh, cool, what colour is it?"
- "It has no colour."
- "Eh?" *Walks off, shaking head.

See?

Cheers
