Hi, I'm trying to find the title for a book I read at least 8 years ago, and it had probably been out for a few years so lets guesstimate that the book could be 10+ years old.
This true story was of a couple of friends from New York (x2) who wanted to go to Rio for carnival and decided to make a road trip out of it. Knowing the dangers and unstability of the central and south american regions they were to travel through & aware that the people of these regions had a great respect for the dead, they made the trip in a hearse. In the end I believe they sold the hearse in rio after carnival and flew back to New York.
If this description rings any bells with anyone I'd appriciate any info or thoughts they might have.
Thanks folks.

The only thing this brings to mind is Leningrad Cowboys, in which a hearse features in a crosscountry trip, but that's a film.

Found on the web: Simon Mayle takes readers along in "The Burial Brothers," which details the story of driving a 1973 Cadillac Hearse from New York to Rio.

Thasts the 1

Hi WickedWitch & thanks, I searched the author & title you provided and sure enough the description provided by Amazon confirmed it. Though I didnt recognise the cover the decription is on the money.
Just out of curiosity what search criteria did you use when looking it up. I spent a couple hours yesterday trying to dig through web pages looking for it but all I got was salt.
Thanks Again WW. :D

Thanks, but I just got lucky with my first search. I had a hard time duplicating it. Anyway, from Google: hearse "New York to Rio" "road trip".
