Is there anyone out there that reads older SciFi Paperbacks? I'm looking for a particular book and hope that someone's out there that's really avid and knows some of the old storylines. Mainly because I've forgotten the title, author and publisher (although it could be an "ACE Double because I read a lot of them in the sixties). The book I'm looking for would have been up to the mid sixties from possibly the forties.
The story's about an archeologist that is deciphering ruins and finds that a previous, highly intelegent race lived and covered the earth (not Atlantis). A holocost happened which was caused by a short-circuit in their power-grid. All the population (after quite some time) reverted to a people similar to our own first century. Except for a spaceship full of scientists which were away for many years who return. The word (in their language) for scientists was "Lord" or "Lords". They were able to heal wounds by simply passing a small instrument (which they hid in their palm) over the body, etc. I think you get the picture. OK to email if you have the definitive title.
