Other possible names for 'General Chat'.

I've always found the name 'General Chat' slightly clinical - if there's one subforum with which you can get creative in the name-giving department, it's that one.

Now, Stewart mentioned right here that 'Small Talk' is an excellent name for the 'General Chat'-area, which I kinda liked.

In the past I've been on other boards also, and I've encountered two other pretty appropriate names. The first one I noticed was simly called 'Off Topic', which seems fitting, because not one thread manages to stay on topic. Makes sense.

The other one was called 'The WaterCooler', whcih I really liked. It captures the casualness of the subforum perfectly.

So, any suggestions.

Cheers

Note: There are no plans whatsoever to rename the 'General Chat'-area. This is all a 'What if'-situation.

I had to go look that up Stewart. Here's what I got for logorrhoea:

"pathologically excessive and often incoherent talkativeness or wordiness that is characteristic especially of the manic phase of manic-depressive disorders"

I like it....

We could also call it The Martin Show :D
I'm still under the impression that I've added more bookreviews to the library than you have (a grande total of zero-o-o-o).

EDIT: :D

Cheers

Then yes, it is beside the point. :D Martin just accept that you are reigning Spam King and deal with it.

Big fan of The Watercooler - a little American, perhaps, but it does summarise this place well.

I also have a little idea... why not split General Chat into two sections: one for 'Issues' and the other for 'Mindless Drivel'. I know some people have been getting a little annoyed at the volume of General Chat in the forum, and perhaps think it's undermining the book contents of the forum, but splitting this in two might be a way of helping those people to segregate out the drivel (which I admit I do enjoy at times :D ) from the books and any issues they may want to discuss. It's just an idea...

Issues that matter get closed prematurely and there's already one for drivel. I'd ditch the Test forum and replace that with something. It's rather ugly.

Amazing how some people really have nothing better to do than hunt and search around for dirt and then stir it up. Isn't it all just a little sad? :)

IF it's true... You know, maybe Martin just liked the way the review was written and thought it expressed perfectly what he was thinking so just used it. Is it really such a huge crime??? It's not like he is making money out of it.

Dragging back on topic....

Not sure about a new name. Will come back on this one!

If you don't think it's such a big crime, why do you include Copyright 2005 at the end of your blog entries? And why does Martin's blog have a similar Copyright statement at the bottom? To me that indicates that you do care about your work being nicked, and well, it is a crime. Or do you add the copyright thing as a bit of a joke?

You actually looked at my blog. I'm flattered :D

I don't mind as long as people don't make money from what I do. If I found that somebody was using my work, claiming it was their own, for financial gain then I would be pissed... but otherwise. I am happy they like it so much :)
