Parking Ticket

Ok, this is a hypothetical situation......

Say you parked outside Tesco for 5 minutes and an evil, horrible parking inspector issued you a ticket as it was 17.34pm and you cant park there before 18.30. This seems reasonable even though you were only in the shop for a few minutes and could see the man writing the ticket from the queue!
However when you got home after ranting at the skinny rat like man you discover he has typed your registration number wrong on the ticket, but only by one number.
Should you still pay? Should you quietly forget you got it as they might not be able to trace it? Should you write and play the innocent and say you got issued a ticket but it was for a different car and risk it dragging on until after the 2 weeks grace you have to pay only £30 instead of £60?

Another issue is that your car failed its MOT that same day and is going for the scrap yard in a week or so, or even being sold on eBay.....so you would not be the registered owner.....!?

I dunno.

Guilt would probably get the better of me, and I would pay, as I would be convinced that they would somehow trace it to me.

Even if your car was going to the scrap yard, surely they would have a record of who was the registered owner at the time of the parking ticket?

If you can get out of paying it, do so. I hate flourescent hitlers, and I don't even drive...

If the registration number is wrong - don't pay. Just keep quiet. If/when you get another demand - point out their mistake.

I've had a couple I felt were unfair. I argued politely. They still demanded. I paid £5 eventually. They gave up on the owed £25.

It's not worth them taking you to court for.

Thats the thing...the ticket man took the wrong registration of my car. So he might not be able to trace me as he doesnt have the right reg. i would look over my shoulder all my life too if i dont pay it
