Peter Johnson SCAM

My first post and I just wanted to say that this whole Olympian Pen thing is mighty dubious. In fact, it seems to be a scam - that or Mr Bishop Stortford (or J S King) believes his own bull. Either way it's suspicious and it scares me to think that someone - anyone - would pay to be published. Vanity publishing is just that, a flight of vanity and one from which Peter Johnson, J S King and Laser Geek are looking to take advantage of.

I read the previous posts with interest and wondered if J S King or Laser Geek ever re-posted? Anyway all of this reminds me of those "...I've lost my kingdom but have 800 billion dollars in a frozen Nigerian bank account..please pay me 100,000 dollars and I will give you a billion...". Honest idea my arse!

:)

It is completely suspicious.

Yeah, and let's be honest trying to be 'clever' by posting and counterposting is so f***** obvious.

Just check it and seesm somebody actually bid, plus that crank who wrote the first masterpiece of prose bid!

Fulci - Please can you read the PM I sent you. To access it, go to the top right hand corner of the screen and click on Private Messages.

Many Thanks.

I was reading through the Blixa thread and I got to this Peter Johnson' gem:

It will have so many different writers, each bringing their own style, skills and experience to the story.

Great if you like to read the literary equivalent of a patchwork quilt. I don't

Therese Baric or the old guy?

The old guy. Scary. Never read the da Vinci Code (trying to avoid it, much like Harry Potter books) but from what i've heard it all sounds about right :)

Whether the great PJ is trying to scam or is just wholly incompetent is open to question (possibly both, though). Ok, so it's not....the threads were hillarious. Particularly liked your demolition of the terms and conditons!

Hi Ice

Thanks for the mail and I appreciate the comments. However, thought I'd reply publicy for clarity.

My interest has nothing to do with personal vendettas or otherwise. I have not insulted him and it seems only fair to me that - if he creates a website with posible revenue streams - it be open to debate.

Hey Fulci, Blixa on this forum got an email from Peter Johnson.

That's some great stuff in that other forum. There are actual reply's from "Peter Johnson". I wish he would stop by this forum and answer some questions we have. He states he's gotten so much wonderful response...

I don't see how two people bidding on the first auction for "Pen" is all that wonderful. And with less than 12 hours left on second auction there was no bid last time I checked.

To me, wonderful response would be well over 50 bids with the winning bid being well over (what won the first auction??? $102.50) the starting price.

Stewart, can you get blixa to point Peter to this forum? That would be awesome.

Peter invited himself. He doesn't need pointers

If you're refering to J S King or Geek I'm not sure they are Peter.

If you're refering to someone else I'd like to know who?

I was referring to JS King. OK, I can't prove it. I am not an expert. Maybe Stewart can tell you.
But really, if JS King is not Peter, he is a relative or good friend of his. Geek is probably another of his mates. All he does in his posts is trying to create an interest on the bid.
I can't understand the wonderful business idea (for the bidders). What's the difference between posting in a forum like this and in Peter's website (apart from the $100)? And why would anyone want to write just a small part of a book? It doesn't sound any better than our four-word story, but that's a game. Nobody thinks of it as writing

Me either. Isn't publishing through lulu.com or Publish America basically free?
If a person can write they have many avenues to get their book into print.

This idea may not be a scam, but I can't see how anybody would be really interested in reading a novel that has been authored by so many different people, who are previously un-published, and who "win" the chance to write based on a public auction.

At least on American Idol the winner has to prove they have some talent. Here you just have to have cash.

My biggest problem with this whole thing is the statements about how there's so much publicity and interest in this project. I see no interest and no publicity...except what we are doing for it...

hey...newest forum member....

petejohnson.....taaadaaaaa !!!!!

Wonder where his first post will be....

I'm guessing that it's in the Introductions forum...

i.e.

Hey, my name's Peter Johnson,

I really love reading. I read so much that I got this idea from an abstract Nigerian novel I'm reading which involves dead statesmen, lawyers, and secret accounts holding the wealth of nations. The idea is I take vanity publishing beyond the level of scam that it is and make a bunch of untalented chumps pay me to assume copyright of their work.

I also call the inside cover - the bit where you get an idea of the story - a chapter.

Hi Fulci, you may have noticed in the previous "forum fun" that it was pointed out that i only ever post in the two threads.....just wondering why you have joined with the same intentions?

I've been telling friends at home that i've been posting on this thread, therefore i'm slightly suspicious that i may actually know you and that you're getting personal because of something that you just can't admit right now. You need to calm down pal, we're just having a bit of a laugh here. I find it entertaining, and as i've pointed out before, surely it's not something that's worth getting so aggressive about.

Hence, i think i know you.
