Plans for the weekend?

Lyra

an hour and a half to go until the bank holiday - yipee! I have just bought Wolves of the Calla (the fifth book in the Dark Tower series) and it is huge - I can't wait to spend serious time at the weekend getting stuck in. My boyfriend has to work all weekend so I won't even get accused of being unsociable. Hopefully the weather will pick up and I can sit on the balcony, glass of wine in hand and read - bliss!

what are your plans for the weekend?

Today is my Mom's birthday, so we're taking her to dinner tonight. But, that's the only thing we have planned for this weekend as hubby doesn't get the holiday off, and will have to go back into work Sunday night as normal. :(

However, this should mean I can make more of a dent in War & Peace. [Keeping Fingers Crossed!] LOL

Unfortunately, I have to work Saturday :( and possibly Monday, so this won't be much of a weekend for me. Although, with the spare time I have, I'll be reading something. :D

Oh, I'm sorry. :(

At least you'll have some spare time for reading. :)

Don't feel too sorry for me. I am feeling this overwhelming urge to go book shopping and I don't think I'll be able to limit myself to one or two books. Book shopping always perks up my spirits! :D

I hear that one! We're on a rather limited budget at the moment and I haven't been able to go shopping for books in quite a long time. I miss it something fierce! So, I'll enjoy the weekend and YOU can enjoy shopping for both of us! Deal? LOL

We're on a budget too, but my sister told me about a new used bookstore in my area, so I am hoping they have some good deals on some older books I've been wanting! :D

My mum lives at the seaside, so we're off to see her tomorrow. Then on Saturday we're going to Monkey World. Ook! Nanas! Then on Monday we're off to a different bit of seaside for cream teas and cake. Yay for bank holiday weekends.

Oh, and my mum just got a job in a book shop. :D Lovely cheap books for her lovely cheap daughter.

I'm jealous of the cheap books, Litany. Sounds like a wonderful weekend.

Mine, well, I finished my job yesterday so that I could spend today cleaning (started at 7am). So far, so good. I'm due to finish before my husband gets in tonight. Tomorrow, my parents are arriving early and my in-laws are coming to provide us with lots of vehicles to pack up the remaining furniture and boxes, after which we will head to the new apartment and unload. Then we plan to rest. Sunday is more unpacking and that will continue into the week until I finish. I hope to start my new job the following Monday, with everything unpacked. Since I've been packing and moving for a month now (at least I could take my time), I'm ready for this whole ordeal to be over. Moving isn't exactly my thing, as I'm obsessively neat and its impossible to move neatly.

I shall be exploring the strange swirly vortex that has appeared in my kitchen. :-O

Sounds exciting...I mean, its not everyday one encounters a strange swirly vortex in their kitchen. There isn't a strange thing left in my kitchen, now that its been scrubbed down from top to bottom. I'm certainly leaving it more clean than I found it. I don't think the last renters cleaned it prior to leaving and I know the management company didn't bother to touch it...it was rather icky upon moving in.

Yes, hopefully the vortex is exciting to explore. I have packed up my sandwiches, chocolate bar ( I need the sugar HONEST ) and a themos full of cofffee! If I don't come back... Wel... Ummm. Have a good cry or something, ok? :D

I'm sure you are gonna be so happy when all this moving stuff is over :D

Coffee and a candy bar?!? You're gonna be wired!

I will be glad when this moving stuff is over, though it has helped me to get rid of a lot of junk (I'm a packrat). And I found some things I've not seen since the last move 18 months ago.

Now I must go and get ready...your posts keep distracting me from doing what I ought to be doing ;) The first thing I did this morning was check the forum, and my husband walks in (he's never been awake just after I've awoken before) and laughs because I'm checking the forum. He has no idea of my morning routine.

My husband is a packrat! When we were moving him down here from New Jersey, I couldn't believe all the JUNK he insisted on bringing down with him! After seeing the mess of stuff he considered "invaluable", I set my foot down and told him that he could have the closet in the spare bedroom for all his junk, but if it wouldn't fit in that closet it was trash. Unfortunately, the closet was bigger and held more than I'd ever imagined. LOL

I did get him to purge a lot of stuff when we moved into our house a couple of years later, but it was NOT easy. And of course, these days, he takes every opportunity to tease me about the fact that I have two or three unopened boxes still stashed away in our junk room -- boxes I never unpacked from the move almost four years ago!

I've just sorted out the details and bought a 1995 Porsche 911 Turbo, and I'm hoping to point its dainty little nose toward any horizon and just drive and drive.
4WD, 450 Bhp, air cooled! One very fast "beetle"!
I might head off to France, or perhaps go down to Cornwall!

Just me, the car and some CDs!

If you LOVE cars, are perhaps a solitary person and like writing, some things, like road trips are best done alone!
The Cds I'm taking are
Steely Dan "then And Now"
Neil Young
Pink Floyd "Dark Side Of The Moon"
Nirvanna "Best Of The Best"
Pink Floyd "The Wall"
No Doubt " The Singles"
Radio Head "OK Computer"
Dire Straits "Sultans Of Swing"
Deep Purple "Fireball"!

Good taste in music! :D

Not that I've done this in several years, since I'm now married, but in my single days, it was nothin' for me to get a bee in my bonnet and just take off on a road trip, alone, to anywhere that took my fancy. Very healthy for the soul, IMHO. Enjoy your trip!

Don't mind me, just drooling. I won't get any on the car, promise.
