I seem to have a habit of reading good books and then forgetting their titles, so hopefully whoever used their mad skills to find the books I was asking about last time will know this one, too. I read it a few years ago, and I'm pretty sure it's young-adult fiction, about a teenage girl who has an illness/gets into some sort of accident, and has her DNA transplanted into a chimpanzee's body. Obviously, it's set in the future, and I don't even vaguely remember any names, but I remember she has all these issues with going into estrus and deciding if she's a human or a chimp, and trying to save her fellow chimps from extinction by going to live with them in a reservation or on and island or something. I think at the end, she becomes some kind of legendary chimp elder.
...it's better than it sounds. But regardless of whether it sounds stupid or not, can anyone find the title/author of this book for me? Please?
