Please help me identify this book!

Hello all,

I am desperately trying to remember the name of a book I used to own when I was a kid (20ish years ago).

It was a hardcover book from memory, and from the sketchy memories I have of it, it was about a boy who went outside at night and was wandering around the streets. I have a strong feeling a streetlight played a big part in the story (the streetlight MAY have been alive?).

That's about all I can recall!

I know it's not much to work with, but please if anyone has any ideas at all what it may be, or if you could point me in the direction of someone/somewhere that could help, I would really appreciate it.

Regards,
Adam

The only book(s) that comes to mind are the Moonlight Bay books by Dean Koontz. These books are about a young man that suffers from Xeroderma Pigmentosum. A disorder that prevents someone with it to be exposed to ultraviolet light or sunlight.
Since this character (Chistopher Snow) can not be exposed to light he lives by night. He usually walks the streets of his home town Moonlight Bay. However I don't remember street lights coming to life or anything like that. Other strange things happen though.

Moonlight Bay Books:
Fear Nothing
Sieze the Night

I did hear that Koontz was writing a third book

Thanks for the idea.

I should have mentioned that the book had some illustrations, and definitely wasn't a novel.
It was quite a large square book, and as I say, I'm fairly certain it was a hardcover.

Thanks for your help though!

Adam
